GLOBAL LANDSCAPES FORUM (GLF) AFRICAN YOUTH STORYTELLING CONTEST 2023



The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and the Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL) are hosting an African Storytelling Contest ahead of GLF Nairobi 2023. This contest provides a platform for young Africans to unleash their creativity and share their visions for thriving landscapes across the continent. The top 10 to 15 entries will be featured on the GLF website and social media channels, and the three best stories will receive prizes of EUR 500, 300, and 200, respectively. The contest is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 who was born and is currently living in Africa or part of the African diaspora. Applications end 31st August 2023.

UBUNTUNET ALLIANCE WOMEN HACKATHON 2023



Tech sis and Women in Tech, get in here! UbuntuNet Alliance is organizing a Women Hackathon to promote gender balance in the tech industry and encourage women developers from East and Southern Africa. The hackathon, under the AfricaConnect3 project, aims to innovate for research and education, with focus areas including 21st-century education, research uptake, and improved collaboration. Female participants, either students or graduates within five years, from UbuntuNet Alliance member countries can apply in teams of four by submitting a concept note online before the deadline on 10 August 2023.

UNESCO FIFTH GLOBAL MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY YOUTH HACKATHON 2023



The UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week includes the Global Media and Information Literacy Youth Hackathon, inviting young people and youth organizations worldwide to create innovative MIL learning solutions. Teams of 3-6 members aged 18-32 can participate in the virtual hackathon, designing solutions for challenges related to media and information literacy in digital spaces. The winning teams will present their projects during the Global MIL Week 2023 Youth Agenda Forum and receive recognition and certificates from UNESCO.

REVEUP MENTORSHIP PROGRAM 2023 FOR WOMEN IN DIGITAL COMMS



The RêveUp Mentorship Program is a non-profit organization aiming to support women in digital communications. Conducted in English & French over six months, the program connects students with industry professionals, provides insights and roundtables on working in communications, and offers a supportive community for mentees and mentors alike. Mentees benefit from career guidance, networking, and potential job opportunities, while mentors have the chance to contribute to another woman's professional growth and advance gender-balanced leadership in the field. AFRICAN YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS (AFYWL) FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME



The UNDP African Young Women Leaders (AfYWL) Fellowship Programme, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), is open for applications. The programme offers a 12-month assignment with UNDP at various locations, aiming to empower young African women to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063. Female candidates from African Union member states, aged below 30, with a Master's degree and relevant working experience, are eligible to apply. The application process involves multiple stages of assessment and selection, with successful candidates gaining access to training, mentoring, and a transformative leadership development programme. The application deadline is 24 July 2023.

YOUTH INTERFAITH LEADERS FELLOWSHIP ON CLIMATE CHANGE



Faith For Our Planet, in partnership with Duke University's Divinity School, is launching a week-long fully funded program for young climate-conscious leaders from around the world. The program aims to develop skills and networks to create impactful faith-based climate action projects. The fellowship, open to individuals between 20 and 30 years old, offers expert lectures, interactive sessions, and vocational training covering eco-theology, community mobilization, advocacy, and more.


The fellowship seeks 25 participants, and applications are open from July 18th to August 10th, 2023. Selected fellows will receive knowledge on climate action, systems thinking, and strategic communications. After completing the program, fellows will join FFOP's Alumni Association and have opportunities to engage in regional events and interfaith campaigns. The program is designed to cultivate trust and understanding among different faiths while empowering leaders to drive impactful climate action. The fellowship will be held at Duke University in North Carolina, USA, from January 8th to 14th, 2024. Participants are expected to commit fully to the fellowship, work on a 3-month project, and become leaders in their communities. All travel, visa, accommodation and subsequent costs will be covered by Faith For Our Planet.

SWITCHCON TECH CONFERENCE



SwitchCon's "The Ignition: Innovate for Impact," aims to empower talented and ambitious students across Africa by providing them with a platform to showcase their innovative tech solutions. The initiative acknowledges the lack of opportunities for these students to connect with industry experts and potential employers.


SwitchCon's primary goal is to bridge the gap between the current state of technology in Africa and the global tech ecosystem. By joining this event, students will have the chance to present their ideas, learn from experts, and network with mentors who can support them in turning their solutions into reality. The ultimate aim is to celebrate and nurture the next generation of tech leaders in Africa. This event is scheduled to be held at Zone Tech Park, Lagos, on October 14, 2023.
